Olympic and Paralympic Day
We held an Olympic and Paralympic celebration day on 16th July 2024. We started with an assembly and watched the start of the journey of the torch, then lit our own and paraded round the field. We learnt that the Olympic values of Friendship and Unity in Diversity mirror those of our school mission statement. Each class dressed in the colours of a French-speaking country. The classes found out about the host city, Paris, their class country or territory and the Olympic mascot. Year 6 offered a range of activities for the younger years, including a French song (J'aime), games, a French cafe with a choice of drinks and biscuits and a Treasure Hunt, with flags and sports people from francophone countries to find. Mr Todd and Mrs Brooker organised some fantastic sports activities: curling, boules, dance (the Olympic dance!), gymnastics, rugby 7's, bikes and javelin. We had a brilliant time!
