School Meals

Meals are supplied by an external company, CH&Co Education (formerly Principals), however all meals are prepared and cooked onsite in our kitchen.

The cost of meals is currently £2.43 a day. This is to be paid either in advance or on the day. Payment can be made online via ParentMail.

A menu is supplied by CH&Co Education (available for download at the top of this page) three times a year and printed copies are available from the school office.

Children who do not wish to eat a hot dinner are welcome to bring their own healthy packed lunch from home.

All children in Year 2 or below are entitled to free school meals under the Universal bracket. You do not need to opt in or out at this stage, however your child does need to inform their class teacher in the morning as to whether or not they require a meal.

Some children in Year 3 and above may also be entitled to free school meals. The child's parent/carer must receive one of these benefits to qualify:

  • Universal Credit - if you apply on or after 1 April 2018 your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
  • Income Support
  • income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • the guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit.

If your child is eligible for free school meals with an active application on the 31 March 2018, they will remain eligible until 31 March 2022.

Kent County Council may ask for proof of benefit after you apply.
