  • Father Christmas Visits St. Thomas'

    Tue 14 Dec 2021

Children in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed a special visit today from Father Christmas (albeit virtually!) who took time out from his busy schedule making sure all the elves were busy making toys in the North Pole!

The children were very excited to see and speak with Father Christmas on big screens in their classrooms and apparently a gift will arrive over night for each child to take home with them on Wednesday.

Our whole school nativity was filmed in St. Thomas' of Canterbury Catholic Church on the morning of Monday 13th December 2021 and is now available for families to view on our school website. We hope that you enjoy watching our children portray the true meaning of Christmas.

A special thank you to the parish for letting us use the church and to Matt Curtis of Primary Technologies and Kent PA Hire who very kindly recorded our school nativity free of charge.

  • Pupils Feature in Climate Emergency Music Video

    Fri 10 Dec 2021

Children from Years 5 and 6 were invited to join a powerful climate emergency music project to coincide with COP26 which took place in Glasgow early on in November 2021, by doing something they do best – singing!

Permission was given by the Band Aid Trust to produce climate emergency lyrics for the 1984 song ‘It's Christmas Time’. Nearly 40 years on, we have reached the point where we urgently need to act on climate change.

The children were asked to lend their voices to the new version of the song, entitled ‘It’s Action Time’, and we are pleased to announce that we have recently received the final version of the video. After a short introduction from actor Ewan McGregor, the video features children from St. Thomas’ Catholic Primary School performing ‘It’s Action Time’, in collaboration with children from schools both near and afar.

Huge congratulations to all the children involved, and a big thank you to Mrs Hall who composed the lyrics for ‘It’s Action Time’ and who led on this project!
