School Meals

Meals are supplied by an external company, Principals, however all meals are prepared and cooked onsite in our kitchen.

The cost of meals is currently £2.25 a day. This is to be paid either in advance or on the day. Payment can be made online at www.principals-catering.com or by cash in a sealed named envelope.

A menu is supplied by Principals (available for download at the top of this page) three times a year and printed copies are available from the school office.

Children who do not wish to eat a hot dinner are welcome to bring their own healthy packed lunch from home.

All children in Year 2 or below are entitled to free school meals under the Universal bracket. You do not need to opt in or out at this stage, however your child does need to inform their class teacher in the morning as to whether or not they require a meal.

Some children in Year 3 and above may also be entitled to free school meals. The child's parent/carer must receive one of these benefits to qualify:

  • Income Support
  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit (not including Working Tax Credit) - if the household income is below £16,190
  • Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
  • an income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 if you are an asylum seeker.

Kent County Council may ask for proof of benefit after you apply.
